'93LX 4 banger dead, '85 GT on the way
My '93 LX 4 banger was having some problems with overheating whilst I was broke so I only drove it locally but it still got pretty dang hot. One day It just didn't want to start so I took it to a friends and did a full tune-up, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, plugs, plug wires, universal radiator fan (the fan was the problem with over heating) Also, replaced the pcv valve, go to start it up and it sounds fine, a bit better, put some water in the radiator and all hell broke loose, looked like a smoke bomb out of the tailpipe (white smoke) and it has a bit of a knock to it, I was told it was the head gasket and would cost a bit to fix, was told around $400-800. Is that true and could that be it? Should I bother putting a for sale sign on it or calling up the junk yard?
Anyways, I've got an 85' stock GT on the way, as soon as I get it, its to the parts store for a full tune-up. It's going to be a daily driver but I still want some power under the hood. Is intake and exhaust my first steps after the tune-up?
Looking to put about $400 a month into the GT.
