I have been having problems with my 1995 Mustang when trying to maintain a speed on level surfaces and up a slight incline. The engine starts to sound like it's choking and surges. When it does this I either take my foot off the gas pedal or give it more gas ( sometimes when I give it more gas it surges even worse ). I have replaced all the plugs, wires, massflow air intake, fuel pump, fuel filter, ignition coil pack, and even had the fuel injectors flushed front and back. Also when it's wet outside and go through some puddles, it starts to run really hard like it is running on 4-5 cylinders and the A/C blows out humid air and the engine light comes on. I'm tired of spending my time and money on trying to figure out the problem. Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I just went through simular problems with the escort. A couple of faulty parts. Fuel pressure regulator seemed to do it for me, but I am unsure if this is your problem or not. Mine was about $85.00 from the dealer.

Since the engine light has come on, did you ever pull the codes? Could be an IAC, but you don't need any more guessing at this point.

although my engine light didnt come on, i had a similar problem with the surge of revs, after months of getting extremelly frustrated and even my mechanic not being able to figure it out, i turned the overdrive switch off everytime i start the car up and i havent had the problem since
