96 GT Charging Issues

My little brother just put a brand new battery, along with new terminals in his 96 GT with the 4.6...2 days later while driving down the road, the car starts stumbling and ultimately died. Hooked up jumper cables and she fired right up...remove the jumper cables and it dies...Is he dealing with a bad alternator or something else? I know on all of my "older" vehicles, you could take the battery completely out and the car would stay running if the alternator was good....his mustang dies right away if you disconnect the battery...which leads me to believe his alternator is junk. We're gonna take the alt. to have it tested, but I wanted to get some opinions here first. Thanks

Re: 96 GT Charging Issues

Sounds like the alternator to me.

Ever notice that there's so many high performance parts available for GM products?

Did you ever think that maybe they NEED them?
