96 mustand with 351 - Ford Forums

My brother has been deployed and asked if I could get his car going. Pulled a dead 3.8 and dropped in a 351 and trans out of an 88 van. Computer is still there but all it does is run the idiot lights and gauges. Is there anyway to get the speedo and tach running?

O.K, nobody knows. I'll find a machanical setup that will work. Next qustion, What are the typical gears I can find in a GT rear end and will thest hold up to a mostly stock 351?

The speedo requires a speed sensor in the transmission; is there one in the trans you've swapped over?

I'd replace the stock tach with an aftermarket one; the tach you have is expecting 3 pulses per engine revolution.
