I have a 1997 GT conv. and have been having some audio problems since last summer. It may sound like a stupid question - but I am new at this - and have gotten many different answers from friends and professionals. I am curious if any of you have any input!

I am not sure if it is the head unit or the speakers - and am not sure how to figure it out either.

*The music comes out very softly even when I hit the volume buttom up continuiously - then when I get to a certain volume I hear a loud 'pop' noise that comes out of all of the speakers, not just one - and then the volume is fine, as long as I do not want to turn it down. When I turn it down the 'pop' noise comes again and the whole process starts over. It is either LOUD music - or nothing - and when I have someone in the car it gets annoying to keep playing with the volume when someone starts to talk.*

The car is seasonal and I put it in storage for the winter - so some have told me a mouse could have eaten at a wire or something like that - but I have checked and others have also and we couldn't find any damage.

I am not sure what direction to go in - new speakers or a new head unit - or both. I have gotten many different recommendations, but have yet to make a decision.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated!
