My GT when underload at about 3000RPMs knocks bad. Anyone have Ideas?

Have you tried a higher grade fuel? Have you installed new spark plugs and had the timing checked in the last 30K? Do you have any mods on the vehicle?

I had a problem like that in my 93 GT befor the turbo. Had it dianosed at a shop turned out to be bad 02 sensors. Cost $259 with dionostic included $80. I was younger then now i would buy my own programer it shows trouble codes and you can pick one up fairly cheap. Just plug it in, i have one for my 93 it plugs in under the hood. ON my 07 GT i have a Diablo Sport more exspensive but worth every penny, it plugs in under the stearing wheel. I dont know where your port is but its a sound investment.

i had a problem like that with my 97 gt. it would stop for a couple weeks when i cleaned my spark plugs but just come back eventually. but the real problem was my head gaskets. after changing the gaskets i haven't had the problem since
