Another random question!

I was just wanting to know the difference between an I6 engine and a V6. I know the I6 is one bank of 6 pistons, and the V6 is two banks of 3 pistons, but does the V offer better performance, or is it just a space saver?

Let's say we have a 200 I6 and a 200 V6 with identicle accessories. Will one be stranger that the other just because of the formation?

I was thinking about performance upgrades for my car the other day, and this just popped into my mind. Call me dumb, but I just wanted to ask :bcool:

The straight six would make more torque while the V6 would rev higher for more horsepower. The V6 is a spacesaver in a transverse installation. There's no way an inline six with a transaxle on the end of it would fit in my FWD Taurus!

"Will one be stranger* that the other..."

Thanks for the reply!

The I-6 is a smoother engine b/c its naturally balanced.Thats why BMW and JAG use I-6s. Plus the 200 in our mustangs have 7 mains. Compared to the 2 or 4 that come in V8 or V6. Our sixes can take a beating. Supposely our sixes can be revved to 6,000-7,000 rpm safely. Theonly thing that kills our engine is the POS integrated log intake. But other wise the engine is great. Sorry for such a long response, a little piece of my heart goes out to my I6.

Hey, the more the better, right? Thanks for the info.

About the intake, would it be worth upgrading? I was thinking of upgrading the carb/exhaust; intake mani can just go right with it :) Do they even make intake manifolds for my car -- other than stock? I am worried about fuel economy, though. This will be my daily driver when restored.

Clifford sells an adapter that your can put 3 ibbl carbs on it. If you wanna upgrade the intake get the intake of a 250 cu. in. motor. The ones in the late 70s are made for unleaded gas!If you want headers mustangsplus and clifford both sell headers. I recommend you look at the following sites if you wanna soupe up your 6:

http://www.geocities.com/mustang_man_1966/
http://www.cliffordperformance.com/
http://home.cfl.rr.com/mustangsix/
http://falconperformance.sundog.net/
http://www.fordsix.com/

These are pretty much the sites I have found. If you find any let me know.
