Auto Loom Frying Manual ECU?

You can put the automatic ECU in a manual transmission, since it doesn't miss the signal. If you install a manual transmission ECU in an AOD application, that 12-volt power will fry the manual ECU.
Can this happen to my car? I'm having a problem of the ECU not controlling the ISC solenoid at all and I suspect the ECU is blown. The car runs ok except for some idling problems and low rpm sluggishness. It still has some control over the idle speed but I think this is through ignition advance, not the ISC. I never noticed this problem when running the auto ECU (which I have sold).

I am running an EF Futura manual EECV from a wrecker in a T5 converted EF GLi. I didn't do any changes to the wiring loom and pretty much just left all the auto wiring dangling. I did hook up the neutral and reverse switches to the auto loom individually though. Does the BTR tranny have a similar 12v supply that frys manual EECVs?

Re: Auto Loom Frying Manual ECU?

why dont you check pin 30 on the plug and see whether there is 12volts when you put the ignition on. If there is then you know you may have stuffed the ECU. If not then it may be another problem.

Re: Auto Loom Frying Manual ECU?

Because pin 30 on the EECIV's fry EECIV's. It'd prolly be a different pin on EECV's.

I've had a chat to XR9UTE and he reckons there isn't such a problem with EECV's, so it looks like problem solvered.
