Hi, i am close to completing a restoration of a 65 Mustang here in Australia. However, i am about to wire up the BTR4 tranmission control module and and cannot seem toget my hands on a diagram/pinout...

Can someone please help me or point me in the right direction of what each wire is (e.g.main power, ign switch, earth etc)

I have attached pictures of engine and ETC

Which BTR transmission model number? 95LE or a later one?

You may have a problem as the only cars with seperate transmission modles were the straigh 6's using the 85 and 91 Btr Trans; the 95LE used on thre V8 had the trans control integrated into the engine ECU. Of course, if you have the original ECU for the V8 engine all may be OK.

Thanks for the info Aussieblue...however, i am a little confused, i originally purchased my mustang as a rolling shell with a donour motor, believed to be a 88 5.0 HO Mustang, as you can see in the photo. I have, what i believe to be the original ecu and the car is running beautifully. But, there is a plug on the loom that fits the big plug of the module but not the little plug...hence why i am a little perplexed...

So do i have some weird ecu from a V6 that runs a V8 and needs the BTR or is the trans module not needed at all as i have a v8?

What numbers are on the barcode ID strip on the transmission and ECU? That will allow us to determine what transmission and what ECU you have and if the trans module in your pic is needed and if it is compatible.

605M12AF01 17997 - 940 0A24
and of course in big letters A9L

is derived from 89-92 Manual transmission Mustang so it wont drive the BTR. A9L also means it's from a manual. See also http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...ecm-codes.html

OK I got mixed up. Checking the 6's had the trans controller integrated with the ECU and the 8's kept the separate trans control module. The BA at the ends is what signifies what model but none of parts books (EA to EF) have a BA listed.

OK just checking my parts manuals etc; it was the later 6 with the later 91LE that had the integrated controller in the ECU and the V8 continued to use a separate trans control module. The letters BA are what matters at the end of the number but my parts books EA to EF only have ones ending in A or B and the number is usually preceded by EF. I suspect it's for a 91LE trans that has the model number 91 DA 7000 AA/BA. The V8 of similar vintage used the 95LE 91 DA 7000 CA. Check for one of those numbers on the passenger's side of the transmission.
