Check Engine Code Help?!

I had my check engine light come on, and I took it to a place to get them to read the code for me. Their machine brought up the code, "Control Fuel Air Metering". Does anyone know what this means? Even the person at the auto place I took it didnt know what it meant. Thanks!

Re: Check Engine Code Help?!

You could call the dealer service dept and ask.. My guest would be O2 sensor or mass air flow sensor.

Re: Check Engine Code Help?!

Sorry I can't answer the question but I have a similar problem. CHECK ENGINE light does not turn off. The owner guide says that it's on when Emission Control System requires service. I didn't have time to go to a service but do you think that it's a critical warning? Can I use the car for a while? What kind of problems may I face? Any idea.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Check Engine Code Help?!

Usually, the check engine light has something to do with the emissions. Nothing major to worry about. However, the emissions and sensors used can be misreporting information and may cause your vehicle to run a little different. Like I said - nothing major but if you have a haynes manual you can short the jumpers on one of the harness's in the engine compartment and get the exact code read out. Of course, this depends on your year. I know 94-95's have them - not sure about the 97's.
