confused Convertible top problems....help!!!!!

Ok. I bought a 1990 Mustang Gt Convertible. There are three problems I have with the top. The first is when you push the switch to put the top down, nothing happens. I am not sure if there is a clicking sound or not, but i don't think so. We did a while a back take the dash board out to spray it with vynal paint and i suppose it is possible that it may not have been reconnected. Do I have to take off the whole dash board to reconnect it if that is the problem? Is there an easier way of doing this? Also, if that is not the problem what else could it be?
second problem is, the frame of the convertible on the passenger side seems to be bent or something. Do frames get sold only in 1 piece or is it possible to replace just that side piece. Also, the latch on the passenger side for the top is broken. How do you take the old latch off so that a new one can be put in?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kim

Re: Convertible top problems....help!!!!!

First on the frame bits. As far as I know you can only purchase an entire frame from Ford and not in bits. You can however go to a boneyard and do the pull a part (if they have one on the lot). Would be cheaper from them anyhow. Also, depending on the bend you should be able to straighten it out with no problem....that of course is the cheapest solution.

Now on the powerdown issues. I am not familiar with the connector itself or its location. I would try to atleast hunt it down prior to yanking the dash out completely.
