converting 89 coupe from 4cyl to 331 need wiring help - Ford Forums

changing a 89 4cyl to 331 stroker.using fuel injection but have run into some problems.the main issue is wiring.i pulled an ecu and engine harness out of a wrecked 89 gt.not knowing that i would need the dash and chassis harness the car is now gone to crusher.so i asked a guy on stangnet if i could use the existing 4 cyl dash and chassis harness and he said it would burn the computer up and maybe even the car.so i went back to the salvage facilaty and was pulling the dash and chassis harness out of a 93 model when a fellow mustanger told me they would not combie with the 89 ecu/engine harness.this was what he said would work with each other.
1.86-89 provided you used the 89 ecm /engine harness
2.90 was specific to itself due to a odd variation to the dash/chassis/ecm hookups
3.91-93 would work together.
my question is can anyone varify this or will they all work together?
will the v-8 ecu/engine harness comply with the 4cyl dash/chassis harness?
anyone with 4 to v8 swap knowledge would be greatly appreciatted with you experiences and advice.

'86-'88 was speed density (SD) and did not use a mass air (MAF) meter. '86-'88 should swap out. I've never heard of '90 being specific to itself. As far as the wires you need in order to get it going, the '89-'93 should swap.
