My car got broken into a couple of weeks ago. Luckily nothing got stolen. Thought they probably used a slim jim because no broken window. Well just noticed they got in through the lock. Guess they probably used a screw driver. The key no longer works and you can see some physical damage to the lock and there is a slight dent around the lock. Where would be a good place to find a replacement and matching key?

Hi tdpower. Check with your local parts store or locksmith and see if they can get it. I bet they can. If not, there's always the dealer. A locksmith may be able to key it to match the original.

Thanks, I'll check around when I get some time. Anybody know how hard it is to replace? The one on trunk looks like it is riveted in.

I got my remote control fixed so at least I don't have to crawl through the trunk to unlock the car anymore.

That's the only reason I noticed the lock was messed up.

It's always a bugger. Only go to the dealer if other businesses in the area can't assist. I know you might have to go to the dealer for remote programming depending on the model, security settings, etc.

I never lock my vehicles anymore. I'd rather people not break windows or locks only to get nothing from the vehicle in the first place. Yes, there is still a vandalism possibility of the interiors but I've never had any issues. Really, who would want to break into a K car in the first place? ha. ...I couldn't even pay someone to steal that car...
