i have a el ford falcon and and ive run into abit of a problem, in regarding to turbocharging, what can be done about the ecu? can you run it on the stock ecu? mods are only exhaust turbo front mount and about 8psi of boost. can the ecu be chipped? all opinions are welcomed thanx
the ECU need not be chipped as long as you run an FMU.(fuel management unit)
i ran 8pounds boost with and FMU which is a fuel pressure regulator that increases fuel pressure on the return line as boost increases. Also a BTM (Boost timing control) is required as boost is applied the engine timing will need to retarded. these two functions will see you running perfectlty. start with this and you will be fine. MSD and Crane both make BTM's, vortech and others make FMU's
