confused EL GT EECV Transplante

I have a nice long list of mod's for the fairlane, one of which is to replace the standard EECIV, at least the auto's computer with one from an EL GT.

So my question are - How much could I expect to pay for one?
How easy is it to install?
Is it worth doing (Don't shatter my dreams to quickly)?

I do have the intention of getting a tweecerRT when the cash situation improves, but I'd like have a better base EEC to work with first and if it's cheaper than the tweecerRT to start with, even better.

Re: EL GT EECV Transplante

Don't mean to spoil the party but:-

The V8 has a seperate trans computer, all the I6's have the trans computer incorporated in the main ECU. All the EF/EL V8's have the same setup. So if this GT is a six, sorry, can't be done.

cheers

Re: EL GT EECV Transplante

I didn't know you could get a GT that was a 6.
Yes I know the Trans computer was seperate and the fairlane is also a 8 so this shouldn't be a problem.

Hehe, that's the point, you can't get a I6 GT!

If you've got a V8 then it should be good but then again, who with a GT would be willing to part with their EEC-V?

No car ATM but I am looking at one...
I don't want to say which one otherwise someone else might buy it!

Re: EL GT EECV Transplante

NCGhia, what exactly do you want to acheive.
You say you want to replace the auto PCM - what to get harder shifts, different shift points?

To run the Tweecer/RT, you do realise you will need a US ECU, as the aussie ones arent supported?
