mymerc Registered User Join Date: Mar 2005 Posts: 3	explorer vs mustang is the old 5.0 V8 from the explorer the same engine from the mustang 5.0? and what is the 5.0 rated at. the year is 1996 my old 5.0 for my newbie sake

Ford marketed the 5.0 numbers because it sounded better. Anyway the Explorer 4.9L has 210 hp. I'm going by 1995 numbers for the Mustang because the "5.0" was replaced by the 4.6L in 1996. The Mustang GT 4.9L has 215 hp, and the Cobra version had 240 hp. __________________ Stacy94PGT My first car was a 67 Mustang Coupe, 2nd one was a 67 Cougar XR-7, 3rd one was a 66 Mustang Coupe. Why did I get rid of these cars for ? I know why, because I'm stupid, stupid, stupid. My next Ford.....
