Question Gas in oil?

I just drained my oil this morning, and almost choked from the gasoline smell. When I took the oil filter off I smelled it, and it was unmistakeably gasoline. The engine is a 351C, 2 barrel heads, and 2 barrel carb. It is exactly as it was when I bought the car. I have mad no mods at all to it. Best I can tell the engine is completely stock. What could be going on here? I can't imagine this would be normal.

Thanks,
Tim

Tim,
The diaphram in the fuel pump has a hole in it allowing the gas to go directly to the pan. Change the pump- problem over.

Sounds right. Should cost you less than $20 too, from what I remember of my last stock replacement. Fairly easy fix. I would get it changed, refill your oil. Run it for a few minutes and then change the oil and filter again.

Let us know how it goes!

You're right, I priced them last night and a stock replacement is 20 bucks and some change. Plus the cost of the oil and filter. I figured I would just get some high detergent additive and run it a few hours then add my normal synthetic oil. Anyone recommend a detergent additive they like?
