Does anyone know the 1/4 time of a stock Corvette?? There are a lot of '00-'01 Vettes around Evansville... I was wanting to know if there was a way that I could get a '00 GT fast enough to beat a Vette. I know it is possible but I don't really know what mods I would need to put on the GT...
I would get NOS but I have heard some bad things about it... I heard if you use it properly you won't have any problems. But some people said they messed up their engines and they followed all of the directions. I don't want to take the risk of messing up a good engine. That is the only reason I don't just buy a supercharger... The risk factor.
I have heard a lot of stuff about the new Vettes. I heard they will be VERY FAST and I am hoping a Cobra can compete with one. I just found a good price on a SVT Cobra and I am thinking about buying it. I guess I could stick a S/C and a new solid rear from a GT and have a good ET. I doubt the gas mileage will be good on the new Vettes, and you know the insurance will kill them.
Fords going to release 430hp supercharged Mustang badged the "terminator" which should see it in the 12s with sub 5 seconds 0-100km (0-62mph). Mustang in a few years will have a 300kw (400hp) all-alloy 5litre v8 whcih should see it take performance right up with the corvettes (I hope).

Those LS1 General Motor vehicles are extremely quick, even in stock condition.
Not sure about the times on the 'vette, but MM&FF had a comparison of the Bullitt Mustang and a stock SS Camaro in their November, 2001 edition.
With the stock radials the LS1 turned high 12, low 13 times, run after run after run.
Part of the article states; Quote....
"The SS pumped 321 HP to the rear wheels on the DynoJet. Are you feeling ill yet? Thats 42 more than the last Cobra we tested, and 82 more than the Bullitt. But gee Uncle Henry, it only has one camshaft... Now don't kill the messenger. This is just to open your eyes and those of the folks at Ford engine development and Team Mustang. We've been waving the Blue Oval banner for decades, fighting the good fight and spending thousand of our hard earned dollars every year to whip Bowtie's butt. But it's time for Ford to send in the reinforcements. We can't do this on our own, guys." End Quote......
I read that article too. But, its just a Bullit that they were racing. I bet if you stuck a S/C on a GT it would keep up and/or kill the SS. I hate SS Camaros... My uncle HAD one until it started falling apart... The interior was crap and it seemed like the car was having problems every time I visited him.
