how tell 429 or 460 - Ford Forums

i bought a engine off a old boat racer,he said it was a 429 engine
but the block was a 460 marine block .now its is my car and i have a viberation in the car (just sitting in park) the front of the engine has the balance and the sleve and the flex plate has a weight on it ,not sure what to do ,just dont want to start ripping everthing apart for no reason

need help bad car is driving me crazzzzzzzzy

429 and 460 blocks are the same. The 460 simply has a longer stroke with crank and pistons being different. First you need to know if the engine is running on all 8. It may be a simple as leads on incorrect plugs. Has the engine been running well for a while and just started this or is this a first time start up situation.
