confused Installing headers on a 69 Mach 1

Does anyone know the way to install headers on a 428CJ in a 69 Mach 1. I know it can be done, just wandering the steps to install. Motor is out of car at this time. I am restoring and wanted to install Headers.
Thanks

Re: Installing headers on a 69 Mach 1

Oh Boy....I have installed headers on several 69 and 70 cj Machs and it is a VERY difficult install. IE skinned nuckles. I currently have a 70 cj that I have keep the stock manifolds on due to the issues with headers.
My advise....port match the stock manifolds and clean up any burrs you can get at in the ports.
Put a good street cam in the car for the performance. Headers cook starters and mine always seemed to touch the body in various places.
Perhaps someone may chime in with a multi piece header set up that is better than the old school design. In any event...good luck.

Re: Installing headers on a 69 Mach 1

Thanks for the info, I thought it would be a lot of work. I had taken a set of headers off this car when I bought it, do have a set of manifolds to go back on. Headers do look good , but may not be worth the trouble. Thanks again
