Late 1979 Ford Mustang with Thriftpower Six?
How many of you remember buying a very late 1979 Ford Mustang with the 3.3 "Thriftpower" inline-6 engine? I would think technically most of these early installations would be early (pulled-ahead) 1980 models, correct?
The 3.3L, which had previously been introduced for the original Mustang in 1965, debuted in the Fox-body Mustang in June 1979 (when you consider the 1979 model-year Mustang launch was September 1978), to replace the German-made 2.8L Cologne V6 (used in the Mustang II and the German-made Capri of the early-to-mid 1970s and, later, some 1983-87 Ford Ranger and Bronco II compact trucks), whose supplies were running out.
