Leaks

I have a pretty bad leak inside the car and i have to shove towels into it evry time it rains but it still gets the interior carpet wet. i think the leak is coming from the spce where the right side of the dash unit meets the side of the car. Its right above where the kick panel ends on the top. I have to put towels on the floor as well as the top of the kick panel or else the water just runs behind it. I think maybe the cowl has rusted and now its leaking but i really hope not. ive put some silicoln up there but it still leaks. What makes it worse is that i cant see the original point where it comes ot from. any suggestions on what to do? Thanks.

What year??

Sounds like the cowl is rusted out. Very common in older mustangs. BIG job to remove cowl and repair properly.

Cover the cowl opening and see if the leak stops.

They make clear plastic covers that fit on the cowl to help.
They also make a repair kit that has two plastic pieces that fit up into the vent openings in the cowl with silicone.

The windshield could leak too. Also, if you're missing any of the rivits that hold the windsheild clips, this can leak too.

Just about any of the Mustang parts houses have the repair kits listed in their catalogs.

Done anything with your radio or antenna lately? That sounds like water is running down the antenna lead and into the car. The solution is a very easy one. The little rubber seal will not keep water out under those conditions. make sure that the lead makes a loop down and then back up before going through the hole to the interior. I am just about willing to be about %95 that is where it is coming from! Let us know!
