As Ford celebrates building it's 100 millionth V8, an American columnist,Howard Walker wondered what was the most powerful Ford V8 ever built.

It's the 7000 hp (5200kW) engine that powers the Castrol GTX Ford Mustang Funny car driven by John force.

The car gets to 526km/h (325mph) in 4.8s
0 to 100 mph in ,wait for it, 8 tenths of a second.

And that's stupid!!! John Force's car isn't powered by a Ford engine. It has an aftermarket 499 cu.in. "Hemi" replica. A Dodge remake you dummy.
He was asking for the most powerful Ford V/8 engine not the most powerful Ford car.

The question asked should have stated. What's the most powerful factory motor Ford has ever made ? Racing motors shouldn't count.

Well I'm afraid ,that was the question and that was the answer . As Stacy mentioned the wording certainly could have been a little better. Aftermarket engines built by Ford teams is pushing it.
The words "factory production line" would have changed the answer a lot. Probably amazed the journo though.

It did mention the least powerful was the1936 flathead unit at 60 hp.
Better give Ford credit for that

. That's one reason I stopped watching NASCAR. There's nothing "stock" about a rear wheel drive Taurus, Malibu, or Intrepid.

How true, How true, but they do look good in a windtunnel.
Before you know it all car's will be front wheel drive and then what?
Maybe we can have "RICER NASCAR" what do you think?
Maybe Honda Civic's?
Just shoot me when that happen's.
I'd much prefer converting American front wheeler's to rear wheel for this form of racing.
I would never have gotten my car into drag racing if the rule's hadn't allowed the change to rear wheel drive
