OK this goes against everything I believe in, but unlike most Holden fans I will be honsest and say Mustang is a piece of crap compared to Monaro. The interior, quality and finish makes my XR6 feel like my old man's C200K, and makes my oldman's C200K feel like a Bently! The quality MUST be BAD if it loses out to a Holden!! I knew the Monaro was going to win the comparo as soon as I heard about it last month. However I will finish of by saying that I HATE the Monaro, just like every Holden, and the TE/TS 50 kicks any Holden/HSV 300kW or not!

I have seen all the Monaros on the road except for the CV6. I think the profile and rear of the CV8 is great IMO. Looking at the GTO in Wheels i thought it was a top looking car but after seen a couple around i agree with whoever the Holden designer is that is totally against a spoiler on that car. It stuffs everything for my taste and it wheels are very average. I think the GTS Coupe looks quite tough in the flesh as youd expect it to be i have always liked those wheels. I dont live too far from Clayton by the way.

If i were going to buy a GTO and save 11k over a Stang then mod it with the savings i would buy a CV8 save 17 from a GTO and build it to kick a GTOs ass. Spose it works in different ways. Buy a SS settle for 4 doors and save 10+ over a CV8 etc etc.

Mustangs look tough with the right colour IMO but i could'nt agree more that they look like a Hilux with their ridiculous ride height. Get the blown version to take over from Cobra at the same price {should'nt be much more development costs at all} with them dropped a couple of inchs by Tickford and they will be a winner for sure. Cmon Ford.

What I dont understand is why the Mustang is atleast a second slower over the 1/4 than what it does in the US??. Even the pre-fix 1999 Cobras in the US were quicker than 14.7. Even the trap speed is a good 4-5mph down. Although even with the 101mph that they got it should be hitting high 13s.
Hell even the 190Kw SOHC 4.6L GT Mustangs run high 13s/flat 14s over there. Ive even heard of 5speed V6s hitting low 15s!!

Are the mags really that bad of a driver?

I wonder what a T-series runs with a decent driver? Mid-low 13s would be my guess

Personally I love the look of the 1999-onwards Stang, they look like a proper muscle/pony car (with wide 18s and lowered). To me the Monaro looks more of a luxury Euro Coupe ala BMW/Merc style (not that theres anything wrong with that, just not my preference).

Are the sales of the Stang because of low demand or because they slow at converting them?

Personally I wouldnt buy either even if I had the cash. Id prefer to put the cash into restoring an older Fastback Stang with an EFI 351W Stroker :s6: :s6: :s6:

Martin, the mustang is $90+ car!It shouldn't be compared to monaros or popular HSVs.Lexus sports car, Mercedes coupes and others and not selling that much either, but they're happy with that.
I always loved the word MUSTANG:)it's nice to have it here.Dealers are selling 95 models for $80 something, can you believe it...

I just wanna know when everyone realises that it's not a Monaro - It's a 2-door VX SS. You pay the extra for the little silver badge and the brake package, plus an ass uglier than my mate's ex. They planned that coupe for years - what better way to sell it than slap 'Monaro' on it.

But then hey, aren't SS and GTO American chevy designations?
Hrmmm........... get some originality and innovation, Holden.

The way the Journos keep going on about how the Monaro turns heads even more than italian exotics like Ferrari and Lamborghini in just pure and utter crap. Face it most people notice a car by either its colour or its wheels, put exec commodore wheels on a Monaro and nobody would notice it.

If you put a Monaro next to an Aston Martin Vanquish a 550 Marranello a Lamborghini Murceliago or an SL55 Merc nobody in there right mind would go and look at the Monaro. I know the Monaro is not in these cars class but the way the media goes on about it you would think it was.

Give me a break. What a negative attitude. A monaro is a monaro end of story. Ofcourse its a 2 door commodore that is what it was designed to be. Just like the HQ monaro was a two door HQ. No shit!! It is basic common sense. I quite like the Monaro. I have always loved the old monaros HK & HQ. You can not compare a yankie car (the mustang) with a aussie car. And you never should!!!!!
