My car makes less power now

2010 mustang gt. my mods are 373 gears
Air raid race intake, frpp hot rod cams, frpp intake
Manifold, pipes axel back exhaust. And bama tune
Car only made 296 whp. 304 tq. On race tune
Even lower on performance tune.my car made more
Power before the cam and intake install.
It made 304 whp. 316 tq. I was told to put the stock
Intake back on it would make more power. I just wasted
$669 on the manifold

Re: My car makes less power now

Was the car put on the same dyno with the same people operating before and after the modifications as there can be some readout differences between different dynos and operaters.

Does the car feel any worse or better when you drive it?

Re: My car makes less power now

Something has got to be wrong, the intake is the only thing I couldn't get enough info to determine about what kind of increase you should be getting, but you should easily be making 330-340. If the intake is the one I was looking at, it's designed to take forced induction, but that shouldn't degrade performance while naturally aspirated.

I would try swapping the intakes to verify, if the performance is the same, something must've went awry in the build.

Ever notice that there's so many high performance parts available for GM products?

Did you ever think that maybe they NEED them?

Was the cam(s) timing checked with a dial indicator and degree wheel?

Re: My car makes less power now

You did alot of intake work, but did you do any headers or have computer tuned for the cams installed? The tune programs migh have been for stock cams . What was rear gear ratio prior to swapping? Gears will affect alot on take off performance . Another thing is did you change injectors since all the new mods may have helped but maybe car isnt getting fuel needed & restricted at the injectors

Re: My car makes less power now

Gear ratio will not affect horsepower and your A/F (stoichiometric) ratio should have been read during the dyno/tune pull.

Any mechanic who installs a cam without degreeing it is just a parts changer, not an engine builder. It sounds like one, or both, of your cams are out of time. A couple of degrees makes a big difference and Ford makes camshaft "buttons" for your application and for that reason. Get the basics right first or your engine will never make the power you are looking for.
