confused need help with a starting problem

hey guys just bought a 2000 mustang GT off ebay car is sweet sounds wicked but i have one problem. every once in a whhile when i start it up it dies, but as long as i give it a little gas i can keep it running and after i drive it some ways it will stop and it idles fine. or if i get on it real hard it will backfire and then it will idle fine. only mods i know are the exhaust and intake not sure what kind of exhaust but it does have a high flow intake . any help will be greatly appreciated.

Don't know much about cars, but my job is diagnosing/fixing computers and with basic knowledge and process of elimination it sounds like its not getting enough gas.

SOUNDS to me like your fuel line or filter is clogged or dirty, thats a simple fix check that out first..good luck

More than likely the owner before you didn't maintain the car all that well. I suggest get a full tune up w/ changing of the fuel filter and a fuel system cleaning. That should take care of your problem. If not write me back. Price for this is any where around 200 dollars.
