I have a 98 for mustang and I am having some problems with my front headlights. For over a year my front left headlight would go dim and when it would my ABS break light would come on and they would go out. This came and went and I could mess with the wire and it would work. Now last week both headlights went dim and messing with the left headlight makes the right one go completely out. And if I turn on my high beams the Right light works and the left goes completely out. Doesn't make any sense. Anybody got any ideas or seen this before??

Sounds to me like you have a bad ground. Here's a wiring diagram for the lights. If the ground is bad on one side, the headlight will follow the other wire to the other headlight to ground. Check the grounds.

I was thinking the same thing. I haven't been able to find where the lights are grounded too, its been pouring down rain for the past couple days so i haven't worked on it again. If i have to, would i be able to splice the ground wire if i find that there is a break in the wire somewhere? That area of the engine bay is so tight i might have to pull the headlights off in order to get in there. Where did you find the layout of the wiring?

It's from the Ford manual. The grounds are right behind each headlight.
