I have a 79 pace car 302 automatic and I've been having a problem where after the engine warms up it will not idle. I have replaced the pcv valve installed new fuel filter, tried new filter in air cleaner, new plugs, cleaned out hose to pcv, and nothing has improved. Does someone have an idea what could be the problem? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you mean when you rev it out of fast idle it stalls out??? If so first make sure the choke opens when you rev it out of fast idle. Check the base idle speed. Before it stalls, try opening the throttle a little and see what it does.

Its after the engine starts to warm up,it will not idle enough to put it in gear. It just wants to stall no matter what you do with the gas pedal. If you rev it up it revs smoothly but after you leave off the gas it goes to a very poor idle and just wants to stall again. This is the stock 2 barrel carb. The engine has over 100,000 miles but it always ran okay until this problem started.

You could have many problems- I would check for a vacuum leak. What is the RPM before you encounter this problem?
