Painting the block - Ford Forums

I was just wanting to know how long it takes to paint the block and let it dry safely? I heard somewhere that someone painted the block, then read the curing time on the can, and it was two weeks! He said he let it cure for the two weeks, but it wasn't even cured properly so he had to go back and do it again! That amount of time to dry is INSANE for any type of paint. Please tell me I won't have to go through this...

Also, what kind of paint should I use. I think it's something like ceramic heat-resistant paint, but I'm not sure.

I just use regular Hi-temp engine paint for my engines, it can be found at most automotive stores, advance auto is where I got mine. I am unsure how long it takes to dry, but I can read the can and get back to you, I never went by it and had my engine running less then a week afterwards with no problem.

The only reason I'm concerned is because my dad won't let me keep the car in the garage for long periods of time. I can take it in there to work on it, but I have to take it out when I'm done. I'm sure he won't like it if I leave it in there for a few nights or more!

Can you paint it in the garage and roll it in the drive way and cover the hood? Maybe an option for you. I had to do the same thing when I lived with my folks and had a 66 sprint 200. I painted the engine bay next the following week.
