Read port & polishing

Has anyone ever ported and polished their heads? Any advice, or sites that cover this? One of the biggest power robber on the 200 are its lack of breathing so I plan to P&P my heads,if I can get a hold of some 250 heads those.

I haven't done it myself but there could be some sites that'll have some info. I think that www.standardabrasives.com has an area with DIY guides and one was on porting heads. They had tips and tchniques that are applicable. It's been awhile since I checked it out but I would think they still have it there. I am sure some mags have articles that could help too. good luck.

OOPS!
My mistake on that Standard Abrasives link. Try this one:
www.sa-motorsports.com/diyport.htm
It gives you a good step by step on how to do the port job.
Good luck!

I ported and polished my 289 heads. There once was a great site someone made that ported and polished his 305 heads and thats where I got the idea for mine, but unfortunitly now its unavailable. All I used was simply a Dremal tool with a few different types of bits. Take out the valves and everything of course, and then grind away all the black carbon build-up, then you use a smoother type of bit for the actual metal, not a bit that will leave little lines from the type of material its made of. This will take some time as some of the places are hard to reach (I used sand paper for those places), I have yet to see the results, everything is back in the car and I hope to start it up tomorrow :). Hope this helps.
