Question Problems with the pony

Im having problems with my '88 mustang overheating. I'm guessing its the thermostats stuck shut. Just wondering if anybody knows what else it could be and to check for.

It could also be the radiator is somewhat stopped up. Thermostat is much cheaper. It would be a good time to replace hoses if thay haven't been changed for awhile.

Re: Problems with the pony

A radiator flush may be a good idea and be sure to refill with an inhibitor to stop corrosion.

Re: Problems with the pony

Just a thought. After testing your thermastat to see if it is opening all the way. And after testing your coolant for correct coolant to water mixture and disscoloration or coolant. (brownish is a sign of rust) But both those test are good. Check your water pump impellar for cracks or chunks missing. Just a little short cut if you find small bits of rubber in the thermastat housing your impellar is bad. Good luck with the problem.
