You might get lucky with a custom aftermarket chip, and the car might run better, but how will you know if you are getting max performance? You won't.
There are many variables in a custom built engine. The only way to get it perfect is to map the timing and fuel curve requirements with a dyno pull, then program the chip exactly to your car. You can then compare baseline runs with the final dyno results and know exactly what you have.
