Pulley Removal

I am rreplacing the water pump on my 2004 Mustang 3.9 v6 and need to remove the power steering pump pulley in order to do so.
What is the easiest way to do it and is there more then one type of tool available for the job.
I rented a pulley tool kit from an auto parts store but i am unable to get it to work.

Thanks in advance

Re: Pulley Removal

Sorry, I am not familiar with the 3.8, but I know what not to do. I have removed PS pulleys on the 4.0 and 4.6. Use the proper tool to R&R the pulley or you will surely damage your pump! Find a puller that fits. If you pull on the shaft, or use a press to reinstall the pulley, you will surely damage the seals, pump body, or both.
