Ford Mustang ForumThis forum is for the discussion of all Ford Mustang models, including the Ford Mustang, Ford Mustang Convertible and Ford Mustang Coupe and all older/classic models and submodels.
Hello, we are longtime Ford buyers, but have not had a mustang in 10 years. Our question is about the pricing on the new GT Mustangs. In our area they are selling them at $5000 over sticker. Is this common when a new body style comes out. Two dealers have told us that because Ford is limited as to what the government will allow them to produce in V8's that the GT will remain limited and we have no choice but to pay the extra 5 grand, or order at the sticker price and it could take up to six months. We are in Kansas City, is this selling practice going on at dealers everywhere, and how long before we start seeing more of them on dealer lots?
Their ripping you off. Ford makes more V6's because 60% buyers of Mustangs want it instead of the V8. Yeah, that sounds crazy but that's what the numbers show. Not because the Fed's limit the amount of V8's they can build. If that was true there wouldn't be that many Trucks and SUV's on the market. I've recently posted an article that said the average life of the Mustang at a dealership is 2 hours. As usual when something is in high demand the price goes up. If it were me I'd report them to Ford or pay the sticker price and wait 6 mos.

My first car was a 67 Mustang Coupe, 2nd one was a 67 Cougar XR-7, 3rd one was a 66 Mustang Coupe. Why did I get rid of these cars for ? I know why, because I'm stupid, stupid, stupid.
I saw a commercial today for Ford products during the NASCAR Truck race. In white little words it said, GT in limited numbers.

That stinks~
We are in one of the most affluent counties in the USA, (we are not affluent, but many here are) and the Mustang GT is turning into the Cabbage Patch Doll of cars here....
People bidding over cars at the dealers!!!!
I would much rather see and drive a car before we buy one, but I guess we have no choice but to order.....
Yeah, especially after today with the onslaught of Mustang commercials.
