Does anyone know what the code 4 1 2 C means? It is stamped on the underside of the hood of my 65 Mustang. It is similar to other codes stamped on the inside lip of the fenders, on the inner fenders, ect...it is not the VIN stamped on the L/H inner fender.

I believe the c stands for 60 and the 4 is probably 64 (when it was made) the other numbers are the month and day, but not sure which is which.

sorry it has taken so long to respond but i had to go check some panels as i could not remember the date code breakdown. i believe the first number is the month and the second is the day and the letter (or combination of letter and number) is the shift. thus 4 is april, 12 is the day, and c is the third shift. i have seen shift codes as a/b/c or d/n or as a letter and number (i have one that says w4 and i have no idea what that is! hope this helps. hawkrod
