Trick my computer

I am changing out an engine/transmission from a 88 LX and dropping it into a 90 GT. My only question is since the 90 is has a mass air system and the 88 has a speed density system, will my computer need any tweeking to make everything work? Also the 90 had an automatic and the 88 a 5 speed, will there be any problem with that in my computer...Boy do I need help!!!

Re: Trick my computer

Just leave your MAF sensor in your 1990 since a MAF sensor will be more accurate changes with-in your engine easier than a speed density (SD)

Here is what I know from reading other threads in the past: If you use the computer you have now- it will have a higher idle- but will work. I have heard this is great if you add an E303 cam.

The best computer to have if you are a manual is an A9L according to many threads. You can find this code right on the ECC. If you are an auto-A9P (I am looking for one)

Don't swap you ECCs between cars because of the SD. Oh- and don't forget the wiring harness for the manual trans. if you are pulling the engine off site.

Have fun!
