I have a 87 convertable lx that i have picked up. I have a 1970 429 tunderjet two bolt main dove-a block and heads, a 9 inch, 5 lug spindles,5.0 insterment cluster,frame connectors,and cage. I don't know much about the 429. I am a student at the University of Northwestern Ohio thaking High proformace but they don't really have much on the 429. It's mainly more cominly found motors. I am looking to find some places to find info and parts for the 429 or maybe someone that knows them well to give me a few suggestions or point me in the right direction. Thanks

429 is a smaller version of the 460 big block, it was used in big heavy 5,000 lb tanks, like the lincoln continental , and the mercury marquis , in the 1960's through the mid 70,s this engine was also used in the early 70's ford torinos there was a cj version it stood for cora jet -429 in mustangs and torinos ,it had awesome power, it ate chevy,s and crapt mopars ,if the part no. is still on your block you can find out what year block you have, and what its from maybee,located cast into the block on the right or left side below the head gasket surface, or up front by the water pump,or on back where the trans bolts on, you may have to search around for it. rockauto.com has parts for these old engines

like the other guy said the 429 is a smaller version of the 460. just like the 4.6 is a smaller version of the 5.4. if you can find parts for a 460 they will fit on the 429
