on the new body style mustangs...does anyone have a problem with water running into the trunk itself when you open the lid?...i find that when there's water on the trunk and i open it the water runs down and instead of running into the valley or whatever it's called it runs down and drips in the trunk....does anyone else have this problem?...just wondering if it's normal or if it's something i should mention to my dealership when i take her in for her oil change

Hello Ylwstang girl. I had the same problem with the first 05' stang that I bought. I kinda rushed into it when I bought it because out of 3 dealers only one had the color and interior that I wanted. She had 85 miles on her and the clutch rattled a little. So, to get to the point, the first time I washed her I noticed the mustang emblem ( the big round chrome plate) on the trunk can hold water if it is not sealed well. After I would shammy dry her, bare in mind at this point the car is totally dry, I would open the trunk and then SPLASH! Water would run out of it into the trunk. It was annoying. I solved my problem by trading it in and special ordering my darling to my specs. because of the fact the car obviously was a tester. My new 06' is great! And the emblem on this car is sealed well. No water yet..so check it afer a rainfall or washing. Lift the trunk up slowly keeping your eyes on the emblem and watch for the water. Have a great holiday..

hey Jay...thanks for replying...i don't think the water doesn't come from the emblem on the trunk it comes off the trunk lid itself...then when i open the trunk it's that water that runs in...but i will watch the emblem more closely...and i can't trade my baby in...she's an '06 and Ford doesn't make Screaming Yellow anymore!...lol

nope sweety your right, the hood just accumulates so much water and when u open it and it leaks everywhere, what i do, is hold it straight up and let most of the water slide into the canal and the rest i wipe dry :) yup just simple mistakes that ford made, u could get the door to not go so far back past 90 degrees but I wouldnt know how lol

Hi Ylwstang girl, Happy New Year! Not to beat a dead horse, but I was reading the reply some other cat left you.I know you were talking about the trunk. I think he's talking about the hood. Anyway, did ya find a solution? Where does the water sit? Common sense tells me that when the trunk is closed, how does the water stay there? My solution for you is kinda primitive. Just shake the trunk up and down a little before you open it completely, Ha Ha. And the reason I traded in my 05' is the fact that is was dogged #1 and #2 it didn't have the dark interior and the gauge cluster didn't have the oil and battery gauges. That's pretty important to me. I not rich,but I wish I would have ordered the GT!! Now, that's the muscle car!! I just might end up with one!! Take care.......

That's a good question.. I'm not sure why you are having that problem I've got the convertible and it doesn't seem to be a problem, the water beads up and I open the trunk lid.. And the water roll’s off in the valley and it's gone!! But I do have a question for you. How did you get the black paint on the hood of your mustang? Is it factory paint? Or is it a laminate?
