i would like to know what they are so i can get a pair auto zone does not show them. Do they have another name?They go from the rear axle to the frame.They look like a regular shock.A Stang racer said that they help keep the rear end planted on the ground.They bolt in horzantaly.they arnt as long as the main shock.

The quad shocks were introduced in 1984 on V8 model Mustangs and Capris. They do help to keep the rearend planted to the ground during high torque launches. You can find these shocks mounted between the regular shock and the wheel in an angle almost vertical to the outside frame rail near the gas tank. They mount to the top front of the axle housing. I went throught the same problem. As the statment before this, you do have go get them trough a mustang supplier. you cant buy through a local general parts store. hope this helps.
