What Would You Do?

Well I finally proceeded to install the Tri-Y's last weekend after a massive over-run of business contracts I had to complete. Anyway, a real good friend & myself, had the car running by last Sunday night, with the headers open. I didn't let the car stay too long in the garage since I didn't want the local yuppies torching my place. So we proceeded to drive the car to a nearby office complex to cure the paint on the headers (another story - ha). We cured the paint, etc, had our blip the throttle moment, etc. & made it back without an excessive noise ticket, etc. The same friend told me this week he would get a trailer from work, to trailer it down to a well known muffler shop in downtown Glendale. I also have a few other friends tell me to just drive it down & have someone follow me down with the mufflers & pipe. Then when I get stopped (not "if" but "when") tell the officer that I had no other way to do this. Then show him the mufflers & pipe, tell him it's for my show car. Then, by good faith, let him know I was on my way down to have the job finished. My other two friends swear that he would have to let me go under said pretenses. If I drive it, I save my first friend the hassles of having to go through protocol of getting the trailer from work, having to take a day off, the chances of getting terminated over this matter & etc. This way, I might add, I will feel I didn't take advantage of him over my situation. After all he is a friend! If I trailer it I save myself a possible a ticket & a possible hike in my classic car insurance.

Which direction should I go???

Oh yeah, if I drive it down, I can have the job finished quicker (by a few days) then trailering it.

yeah, i remember you! you were the guy in high school who parked his mothers car in the last spot in the parking lot so it wouldn't get a door ding<G>. hey so you get a fix it ticket, so what? how else are you ever gonna get one of those great "do you remmeber the time that we" stories? half of this damn hobby involves irritating people to death so drive it! it might help a little if you get the collector bolted on with a short length of pipe but.... imagine the look on the face of the guy in the porsche next to you at the light! hawkrod (official sh*t stirrer!)

Why don't you just rent a towbar or something from Uhaul or Rider? I don't think they're very expensive if you're only gonna have it for one day.

I'm not sure how strict your noise laws are but hell i would drive it as suggested , but carefully, and when in sight of the exhaust shop give it some throttle just for the sound.:s5

Just drive it. Keep the loud pedal light till you get close.

That's what I've done, twice in fact.
