04 focus battery hooked up wrong problems?

Hey y'all so I have an 04 focus that I use to drive around and I had purchased a new battery from Autozone and when they installed it they reversed the polarity, put neg terminal on positive post and vice versa we saw some smoke come up for a sec but they reversed it and it started and all I figured it'd be ok, we'll once I drove off I noticed the battery light was on and also my stereo wasn't working. After doing some research I'm sure the stereo is fried which isn't a huge deal and also the alternator will probably need replacing, (I'd assume so due to the light also). What else could be wrong due to this mishap? Everything else seems to work ok so far wipers work and all so I wouldn't think they main relay blew or could it have? Please help me out I'm pretty mechanically inclined just not the best with electronics, I'm a Marine and need to have a reliable vehicle for the long trips i take home. Thanks in advance!

You never know what something like that causes. Have you taken it back to Autozone and have them get it fixed? Since they're responsible, they should fix it.

I called them and they pulled some bs saying I'd have to prove that they installed in incorrectly if it turns out to be just an alternator I'm not too worried about it

This isn't the first post where someone's done this, but I can't seem to find any. Hopefully, you haven't fried the PCM, I'd start with checking all fuses (including fusible links) and checking the coils on the relays.

From personal experience: Most district managers (if not the corporation itself) will happily replace the $100 - $200 to prevent such a small wave of negative publicity (remember: Even negative publicity is publicity... but if it's small: It only affects that store, in a very bad way).

Good luck with fixing the vehicle.
Ooooh, I wish I'd said that!
