My brothers car, he pulled up in the drive and the rpms dropped, gave a little gas and white smoke poured out and started idling rough and clattering loudly, engine code read that it was running lean about a month ago and just recently it was misfiring on cylinder 3. Could the noise/rough idle be a failed injector? Any other ideas? Hopefully not a new motor.
If it is white smoke pouring out the exhaust that means its burning coolant meaning you most likely have a blown head gasket. I would start off with a compression test to rule that out.
Thx guys but it threw a rod and there's a hole in the block... so now we're looking for a crate motor at a reasonable price. 2.0l dohc 4 cylinder if anyone comes across one.
Those motors can do that and a lot of it tied to owner style. Common from missed shifts with MTX or running oil too low. Taken good care of they last forever. We see it quite a bit on the Focus websites.
Get your motors straight, more than one 2.0 DOHC there, you most likely are looking for the duratec, the earlier zetec is different engine but still a 2.0 DOHC. Assuming a US spec car, euro ones are even more confusing.
8th digit of the VIN says it all.
