2.0 Sohc Engine

I have a 2000 ford focus wagon, with the 2.0 SPI engine. The motor, after pulling the head, is toast. Would a Escort 2.0 97-02 work? They are the same rebuild kit, the same block. It says the heads are different. Is that because of the intake piece that goes onto the injectors. If so can that be moved onto the other motor? If not can the other motor be used still and just use the injectors and what have you from the donor?

Looks like the heads are so slightly differnt in the fact that one has bolts for a motor mount, and the intake is slightly differnt.

You'll have to stick with a Focus engine for replacement parts. Escorts share a similar block, but have different top end. check out RockAuto Auto Parts or Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market for the parts your after in your area.

Re: 2.0 Sohc Engine

So what is different in the top end. I see they use the same head gasket, same timing belt ect. Tps is the same. Fuel injectors appear different. So, if I re route the wires would the computer run this motor? I can build a new spot for the motor mount, easy. What would it take to put this motor in a focus. Any one done it?

Re: 2.0 Sohc Engine

If the transmission bell housing can match up, along with the engine mount points to the chassis it should be feasible. I can't say with certainty if it's in fact doable or not. You WILL NEED the other motors PCM and wiring harness to minimize effort when trying to get it to run without throwing consistent engine codes.
