2001 Ford Focus chirp or squeal?!

(I have a 2001 Ford Focus SE) I've been trying to hunt down a solution to my problem for about a month now and have had 0 luck. My car is making this squealing or chirping noise when accelerating and goes away (not completely) when the car is warmed up. The noise sounds like a million crickets under my hood. The mechanic changed the belt, all the pullys and the alternator and is out of ideas. Does anyone know of anything else? Oh and I thought it might be the Cam Synchronizer but my car is a SOHC so it does not have one. Is there any other possibilities?
FYI - I know nothing about cars.

Thanks! :)

Re: 2001 Ford Focus chirp or squeal?!

Just grab a bottle of water, open the hood, start the car (specially when it is cold)a and drop some water on the belt. If noise go away, then it is belt. Sometimes, even when you have new belt installed, its squeeks because of bad (loose) tensioner. Worse then this could be a bearing in any of the pulleys including alternator. To isolate this problem, I would suggest running the engine without belt and confirm if this noise is not generated from anywhere else.
Good luck!

Run a good quality belt and make sure the pulley's are all properly aligned. A dealer I used to go too replaced my idler in an old sedan that I owned and never aligned the pulley's properly causing the belt to slip. Get another option from another shop. There are listening devices (any reputable shop should have one) that can pin point most sounds.
