2003 2.3l automatic stutters at around 40mph
I have a 2003 focus auto trans that when I am going steady around 40mph it stutters. It feels like a manual transmission that is in too high of a gear for the speed?

I checked the trans fluid and it is at the correct level and doesn't look or smell burnt.

Take it to Autozone and they'll pull codes for free. The light doesn't have to be on.

I'd check the engine first. Fuel filter, coils, plugs, etc.

Yea^, go simple first man, these 2.3l's are not known for having big problems.

Does it to it all the time, or only when it has been running a few minutes and not fully warmed up?
