OK so I know that interchange says that the trans for this 2005 Focus (auto 2.0l) only fits 2005-2007. So the question, what is the difference (they physically look the same) in the earlier 4F27e (2000-2004) and the later (2008-2011)? The internal parts list is the same, so is it something as simple as a small gear ratio variance or is the bolt pattern changed or even more complicated than that?
I'm not 100% sure, but I could have sworn I read that the only difference it the gear ratio, and the bell housing.
So if you could figure out the math on the ratio, and find that you like it, it would be as simple as just take the bell housing off of yours and fit it to the new one.
I'd make sure those bolt patterns to swap the bell housings are right, just to be 100% sure.
