2006 Focus 3 door...power steering pump

I have a 2006 Focus and the power steering pump is dying...has anyone had this problem and is it covered by warranty...ie 100,000 power train/engine?

Re: 2006 Focus 3 door...power steering pump

You'd have to contact a dealer to know for sure. If you're within' the mileage and year (time) of the warranty coverage then you might luck out. However, I believe only directly related engine and transmission problems will fall under the powertrain warranty. The PS pump will probably fall under the comprehensive warranty.

On the bright side it shouldn't be too much to replace as the engine is of a transverse design (versus inline - crankshaft points toward the rear wheels).

aucontraire is from the USA, state of California, so his 100,000 miles is roughly 160,000kms. However, I think that is only for GM and some import brands as the basic warranty for powertrain was 60K, or 100,000kms and comprehensive warranty was for 36K or 60,000kms.
