just a self interest question...is either one better...5 door is more practical if you are taking extra people all the time but is there any compelling reason to pick either other than personal preference? I have 3 door and getting my whippet into the back seat can be a little strained at times but thats about the only draw back at the moment...(I dont have kids so no probs there)

The only thing for me (I have a 3-Door) is that you need a bit of extra room on the sides of the car to open the doors. The doors are a bit longer, so to give me enough room to get out, the very end of the door ends up being quite a way out. I have had some VERY tight squeezes.
Other than that I like it. I think it looks better (gives the rear side windows a better and more angled look) but as always, that is my personal and biased opinion. 5 dorr definitely has practicality all over it, but hey, I always drive it!
I have a 5 door and have never looked back. I often get three or four people in the car so it's extremely handy - it's the reason I chose my exact car after previously owning a 3 door a while ago.
Also, the car is booked in for some end of year formals. I love 3 door bodies, but when it comes to girls in long (or very short) dresses, it sucks hardcore if they have to get in and out of the back.
5 door all the way and have never looked back. My preference.
Tim!

Tim, you rent your car out for formals do you or just a family/friend arrangement?
never thought of using a focus as a hire/formal car but guess for high school formals they could prove popular... :fly:

if you get heaps of requests you should start charging - at least a nominal fee,
hey zetec, on your pic is that the original 16 inch mags on your focus? I am keeping mine on but reckon the 17's look good
