Re: AdvanceTrac light on
You're fine to drive it with the light on. Generally, the autotrac will disable itself if the computer finds a faulty ABS sensor, or something similar. It's a good system when it works, but it's more of a 'nanny', to babysit the driver in case they can't drive properly or decide to do something stupid - then the autotrac will step in and get the vehicle back on course by apportioning braking power to a given wheel to maintain stability.
I have a similar system on my '06 Pontiac. It can be disabled, but is a great system to have for a novice driver in winter conditions. Otherwise, I think it's more of an annoyance.
If the light does really bother you, be sure to take it in for service. If you feel you don't need ABS, or traction control then don't worry. If you're out of warranty, there will be a dealer diagnostic fee along with any associated parts and labour. As it's an '08, you should have one year of warranty coverage left, unless it has over 36,000miles.
