can anyone help, my air con has been working fine on my ford focus 1.6 zetec, all of a sudden the other day when i pressed the button nothing happened, normally the revs go slightly higher when it kicks in and u can feel a slight strain on the engine, but now all of a sudden , nothing, surely the gas can not leak out just like that, any suggestions !
yes the gas can be lost if you do not use the air con very much as suggested in other post check fuses, then check if the compessor is working or not you can see if it is by shining a torch down to look at the drive shaft of compressor if its not working then its likely its either low or no gas this could be a leak or just lack of use you can check by taking out or removing the power steering top up bottle under there is the low pressure switch by shorting out pin 1 and 4 with a suitable wire link then turning it on , the compressor should kick in so then you know its low, at the moment kwikfit are doing regas for £45 and if it does not improve you cooling temp by 10% you pay nothing this is ok if its just low because of low usage, even a serious leak, as such a leak would not allow a 10% cooling if theres a slow leak however i dont think they would spot it and you would pay and later run low again ime in the same boat a leak or no leak thats the question oh by the way mines a 1.8 tdci not sure if your low pressure switch is in same possition but same check applies
